This is a hands down terrible school. To start off the teachers are very unprofessional and let their own personal opinions get in the way of students learning and grades. For example, my Spanish teacher was mad because I was being disrespectful to a substitute, and because of that, she gave me a bad content knowledge grade on a speech I gave later that week, even though my speech exceeded the rubrics expectations. I understand something like this would make her mad but it was very unprofessional. Secondly, when I am talking to the administration at this school , I feel like an anger management counselor. The assistant principals at this school fail to take action when necessary and take the small things to extremes, students get in trouble for wearing their underwear over their pants (still wearing underwear underneath), bringing food that we already bought into the area where we get buy lunch, and bringing food outside for the 5 minutes they let us go outside. These are stupid examples of the things we get in trouble for which violate our student rights. Some things we actually do are worthy of getting in trouble for, but are then blown far out of proportion and then unnecessary and extreme punishments are delivered. The admin and teachers also give students referrals before they talk through the problems, which whether the student really did something wrong or not, makes the student ineligible for end of quarter parties and such. Third, and yet again another violation of our rights, is the rule that we may not have our phone in our neither our pockets nor our binders, and we must leave them in our backpack at the start of the day. Don't get me wrong, there are a few good teachers here who regulate our homework because they understand how stressed we are and disagree with the trash rules this school comes up with, but for the most part, the admin and teachers corrupt our learning and make education difficult with all that we have to juggle already. The last thing that bothers me is student-teachers, student-teachers are people who are trying to learn how to be a teacher and take turns teaching the class with the real teacher. This bothers me because these teachers aren't very highly trained and have almost no experience, so therefore, how is your child supposed to learn if the teacher is inexperienced. I understand they need to go through this process in order to eventually become a teacher, but I feel like they should get more training first, as well as start by doing smaller things rather than just teaching the class right away, for the sake of our learning. If you are choosing to send your kids here, make sure you are an active part of the parent committee so that you can help support the cleaning up of this schools admin and teachers unprofessional behavior. Also, hurry and read this before they take it down and give me a referral for utilizing my freedom of speech.
I am currently an 8th grader at this school and I really like it. For the most part, the teachers are good, and are fairly nice. There are many different electives, clubs, and sports to choose from, so that kids can make their school schedule fit them best. The food isn't the greatest, but isn't bad for cafeteria food. Don't listen to the bad reviews for this school. Mainly they just come from kids who are mad that they can't have their phone out in class, which I actually like that rule, as it has made me much more focused this year. They also have a great system for students with IEPs. You can sign up for a class called resource, which gives you time to do homework during a class period, which can be really helpful for kids like me and many others who need a bit of extra time during the day. Overall don't listen to the negative reviews from kids who hate any school. I personally feel that rocky heights is the best school I've been in. (EDIT: Wow. Really didn't expect the negative backlash this review has gotten. I understand that some people disagree with my opinion, which is fine, but please don't target/bully someone just because they have an opinion different than you)
"If you are having trouble in this school, then well make it harder. Having way too much assigned homework? Here's more and here's more bad teachers in the mix.
Have a few kids been playing on their phone in class? We'll remove that by taking away all phones, even if its in your binder and your not using it, gone. (This isn't a made up rule, this is an actual school rule enforced by the principal.)
if I had to explain what this school is like in a few sentences, then this would be my best;
If I could, I would rate this to a complete zero.
Chad rates this school a solid 1/10 by far the worst school ever. For lunch they serve dog( I prefer golden retriever) and say its chicken. Its not just the food that is bad, the administration targets kids and accuses them of things that they don't do. The school doesn't even let you say your side of the story they just automatically give you a referral. This school makes me sick. Some of the teachers are actually very nice and helpful other teachers just target the weak and make examples of them. At this school they have something called the white room, It is below human standards it isolates children from learning anything. Instead of helping children with their problems they just stick you in a ice box up to 8 hours. The teachers are very disrespectful they make fun of children and threaten them with community service. My health teacher has called me out in front of my class mates and in front of a class that I wasn't in. It leaves me vulnerable and defenseless. It definitely doesn't give me confidence in my work. I was also yelled at for listening to the god himself George Strait in the middle of class, I was sent to the office because all my exes live in Texas. The vice principal does not no how to do her job. Who thought Hillary could run a school let alone a country. I am still shocked on how this operation os still going. Last year my math teacher retired cause she did not know how to teach. She retired a couple years to late. The school is also very sexist and is unfair. Most of the teachers here favor and believe the girls. If you are a boy at this school and you try to tell a teacher about something that happened in class they will act like they care but they really don't. On that note there is to much to talk about and after I post this it will be deleted and I will be in the office as they impeach on my freedom of speech. Again chad reviews this school a solid 1/10 never send your child to this school. The one thing I can compare this school to is a living hell hole.
Terrible school. Don't Send Your Kid Here!! My kid has friends that go there and they used to be sweet little ones and now they are pesky rodents. If you send your kid here they are probably not going to make it out alive. Please save your kids now and don't send them here. Unless you want your kid to develop depression and anxiety don't send them to RHMS. The teachers consider the students as dogs/rodents and never give them the grade they deserve. The counselors make the kids feel unsafe, and don't help them with problems.
Having bullying issues? We don't give a darn!"
